Album:           GIRLS AND WOMEN IN THE PROPOSED CONSTITUTION OF 2014
Description: CDF as one of the Women and Constitution Coalition Members (Wanawake na Katiba Coallition) conducted a successful two days community dialogue in two wards of Vingunguti and Buguruni in Ilala District , Dar es Salaam. The dialogue was made under the support from Women Fund Tanzania (WFT). The aim was to raise awareness among girls and young women on the issues proposed in the Constitution so that they can have the right choice to vote during election process . Among the articles discussed were article 53 which focuses on children’s rights, describing in depth right to a name, a right to be protected against violence and abuse, a right to education and sports, right to land ownership, free from cultural practices which are discriminatory laws, right to participate in giving out opinions, a right for a decent upbringing and a right of not being discriminated. Furthermore, the participants discussed articles that focus on rights of women, elderly people, youth and the disabled, which were not reflected in the current Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania. Lastly, the participants were asked to read and understand the proposed Constitution, register and vote for the referendum of the new Proposed Constitution.
